As a teenager I struggled with my body image and relationship with food.
Age 17, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease which changed my relationship with food and with my body. I had surgery, spent months in hospital and my outlook on life changed. After being ill for so long, when I finally started getting better I realised the damage I was doing to by body by trying to change it. I gained appreciation for the things my body allowed me to do like to dance and laugh with my friends. To be able to enjoy and digest tasty food.
During this time I worked with a dietitian who supported me to make dietary and lifestyle changes, which improved my symptoms and inspired me to pursue a career in dietetics.
